Hardcover. Condition: Good. Self-contained report in original colour illustrated paper covered boards 22x30cm. 67, (1)pp illustrated throughout with b/w photos, maps, sections and drawings. Covers good, scuffed with loss to top right corner; interiors fine. This report describes an Aramco-funded expedition to Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province for the Forhistorisk Museum, Moesgard, supported by Aramco President Thomas Barger, and the Saudi authorities. Its members included Bibby, Stone Age archaeologist Holger Kappel (who authored a chapter), Abdulrahman Al-Ibrahim (representative of the Directorate of Antiquities, Riyadh), Erling Bondesen (geologist), Ole Brande-Lauridsen (surveyor), Christian Fischer (archaeologist), and Bente Hojholt (draughtswoman). Work built on the Danish Archaeological Expeditions to Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi. The objectives over a 3-month period were to cover as wide an area as possible, which led to the identification of 4 sites with potential (Thaj, Tarut Island, Uqair and points north, Yabrin oasis and environs), and Al-Dosiriya. Rare in commerce.
