Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. pp: 290. The author's first, and apparently, only solo-written novel. This copy has been inscribed and signed by Holinger on the title page. The fence in the title is the major symbol appearing throughout the book. As well as the obvious separation of Communist and non-Communist Korea (North and South) Korea, the author develops the story using the fence to divide innocence and experience, son and father, love and hate, and life and death. I found no evidence of an earlier printing. However, the note on the dust jacket refers to this edition as "a corrected and updated edition to commemorate the dedication of the National Korean War Veterans Memorial." The book was released on 30th of June, 1985. This is a near fine copy in a very good dust jacket. The jacket has an irregularly shaped 1" x 1/2" piece missing at the head of the rear panel (not affecting any text), a closed tear at the head of the spine, and moderate edge wear. He has written several young adult novels under the pseudonym of Scott Eller. Signed by Author(s).

Paperback. Condition: Good. 349p. phototcopy. Softcover in black wrapper with backstrip and adjacent areas reinforced with black binder's tape, apparently as produced. 27 cm. Scribbling on bottom egde of pages. Some edge-wear. This appears to be unpublished; perhaps this was prepared for submission to prospective agents or publishers. The Pueblo incident involved the seizure of the USS Pueblo by North Korea in 1968. The captain and crew were released eleven month later but North Korea never returned the ship or any of the items found on the ship. The ship is now a tourist attraction in Pyongyang. The novel is built around the Pueblo Incident and involves a complicated plot to compel the North Korean leader agree to end standoff over the captain, crew and ship. The author may be the same William Holinger who wrote "The Fence Walker," another novel set in Korea but with a different plot which was published by SUNY Press in 1985.
