Add to basketPictorial Cover. Signed Souvenir Programme, quarto, pp., [20]. Paper wraps with photographs to upper and lower cover. Boldly signed "Kind wishes to you, Paul Robeson". Some wear to spine, commensurate with age, otherwise a near fine copy. With a four page biography of Robeson by Marie Seton, a six page programmes of events for the evening (including songs sung) a full-page discography of Robeson's records and a three full page portrait photographs of the singer. Paul Leroy Robeson (April 9, 1898 January 23, 1976) was an American bass-baritone concert artist, actor, professional football player, and civil rights activist who became famous both for his cultural accomplishments and his politics. He toured the United Kingdom a number of times and this programme is from his 1958 tour with Lawrence Brown, featuring a biography, song lyrics, tour dates and further photographs throughout. A pencil asterisk mark next to the Newcastle City Hall date of Thursday 13th November [1958] indicates this was the concert the original purchaser likely attended.
