Eine zweite Auflage erschien 1792 noch zu Lebzeiten des Abbés, eine dritte postum 1801, und im 19. Jahrhundert wurde der Titel im französischsprachigen Raum in verschiedenen Bearbeitungen noch weitere Male neu aufgelegt. ?L?abbé Lhomond est mort en 1795 [recte: wohl 1794]; ainsi il n?a pu soigner que les deux premières éditions de cette Histoire.? Die Kirchengeschichte Lhomonds fand in Abwandlungen insbesondere nach dem Tod des Autors weite Verbreitung ?parce qu?on s?en est servi, contre les intentions des son respectable auteur, pour inspirer à la jeunesse des principes d?intolérance? Deutsch erstmals wohl 1796. ? ?Da das zweyte Bändchen bis auf 1740 geht, so glaube ich nichts Unvollständiges geliefert zu haben, indem unsere grössten und besten Werke der Kirchengeschichte nicht viel weiter als bis auf obigen Zeitpunkt gehen.?
