The writer and contributors to the preface write about the deceased with admiration, commenting that their ill health didn't impede their life's work. The book opens with a memoir written by a friend of the deceased author. The memoir is followed by the publication of various poems and sonnets. No particular theme unifies the poems; instead, they are the collected works of the author, many expressing the authors' devout Christian faith. Many of the poems come from the author's personal experiences, and as such, offer a unique insight into the life and spirituality of an early 19th-century clergyman. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

1p., 4to. Good, on lightly-aged paper. Fifteen lines of closely and neatly written text, with a slip of paper carrying an unsigned six-line note by Horseman neatly laid down at the foot of the text. The letter deals with personal matters, acknowledging the receipt of £23 13s 6d, thanking Brewster for his 'kind attentions', asking him to send whatever he may receive for 'the few old books, which you sent to Stockton's', to Mary Dixon, enquiring after family news, giving his own ('I enjoy the best possible health. My brother was here, lately; & as hearty as ever.'). The note, written in the third person, concerns books, 'the letter to the goal [sic] chaplain' and 'the illness of James Smith'.
