Two years ago we gathered here in Schloss Auel for the first time, attempting to conduct a discussion between neurologists and cardiologists on the similarities and dissimilarities of circulatory disorders of the brain and heart. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Die theoretisch-wissenschaftlichen und die praktisch-klinischen Forschungsarbeiten tiber die Entstehung und Behandlung der Hirn durchblutungsstorungen - der zweithaufigsten Todesursache in den Statistiken der westlichen Industrielander - haben viele neue Erkenntnisse besonders zur Pathogenese gebracht. Weniger erfolg reich waren die Arbeiten auf dem Gebiet einer spezifischen Thera pie, die ja weitgehend von der Kenntnis der Pathogenese abhangig ist. Soweit quantitative Mangeldurchblutung bestand, konnte diese mit den heutigen Mitteln der Therapie weitgehend beseitigt wer den. Soweit bei der StOrung allerdings funktionell spastische Vor gange ursachlich wirksam waren - was ja in den 30er Jahren die Generalthese der inneren Medizin bei der Erklarung war - war die Behandlung wenig erfolgreich. So blieb etwa ein der Subarachnoidal blutung folgender Spasmus vollig behandlungsrefraktar. Bei der Migrane allerdings gelang es durch Einwirkung auf die Transmitter Substanzen in vielen Fallen, das Auftreten durch Intervalltherapie zu verhindern oder den Anfall selbst zu kupieren. Die Vorgange des strukturellen Hirnabbaus und der Hirnleistungsschwache wie derum waren nur wenig zu beeinflussen und wohl nur zu einem klei nen Teil abbangig von einer quantitativen Mangeldurchblutung. Anscheinend folgen hier viele Prozesse dem bisher noch unbekann ten Prinzip der Alzheimer-Krankheit. Ais daher erste Erfolge auf diesen Gebieten durch Einsatz von Calcium-Antagonisten bekannt wurden, zeigte die Neurologie und Psychiatrie groBes Interesse an einer moglichen neuen konservati ven Therapie. Dozent Dr. Volker Hossmann, ehemaliger Mitarbeiter unseres Max-Planck-Institutes fur Hirnforschung und der mit diesem zu sammenarbeitenden neurologischen Klinik Merheim schien daher besonders geeignet, diesen Band herauszugeben.…
