Paperback. Condition: Good. Brief stories with settings as various as a New Zealand pub at six o'clock and an American jail. When O. E. (Ted) Middleton arrived to take up his Fellowship in 1970, he was already intending to make Dunedin his home and place of work. Two tangible results that year were the short stories 'The Will to… Win' and 'The Loners', the latter becoming the title story to the collection published by Charles Brasch and Janet Paul's Square & Circle press in 1972. The cover and illustrations were done by Ralph Hotere; the block present prints the image facing 'The Will to Win'. Owner's Name inside; First Edition. First edition. Pages edges just beginning to fox, very very minor fading on cover, towards spine. Otherwise very good condition. 111 pages.
