    The present volume of Fauna Sinica deals with the systematics of Chinese freshwater Amphipoda. The first part coontains the history of freshwater amphipod research, morphology, systematics, biology and ecology, geographic distribution, economical importance, and material and methods. The second part is a detailed study of 100 species belonging to 10 genera and four families, of which one new species and two new combinations are reported. Keys to the genera and families of Chinese freshwater gammarids are provided. The description of each speciesincludes its Chinese name, Latin name, literature citations, description of morphological characteristics, specimens examined, biology and geography.
