Paperback trade trade, good condition, black & white photos, colour photos inside covers, light toning pages, light foxing covers, light crease bottom corner front cover, minor edgewear. 144 pp. J. P. Syse and colleagues relate the story of the pioneering Norwegian shipping company, Wilhelm Wilhelmsen, a major force in Noway becoming a leading shipping nation. The founder of the company, Morten Wilhelm Wilhelmsen, was born at Tonsberg on the 12th July, 1839, the son of Abraham Wilhelmsen, a master tanner. In 1863 Wilh. Wilhelmsen, as he now called himself, married Catharina, daughter of Fred. Sev. Lorentzen, a doctor, who also had interest in, and was part-owner of, several sailing ships. Most of the book consists of lists of company ships (photo, specifications and history chronological order), divided into three sections: Sailing Ships, Steamships, and Turbine and Motorships.
