First Edition
First edition, 1936. Hardcover in original blue cloth with gilt title label to front board and spine. Edited by Jay B. Hubbell. "Two volumes in one." Copyright page states "First Edition." A good, sound copy with literary association value. Binding remains intact and text block appears secure, but there is noticeable wear to the cloth, including rubbing and fraying at corners and spine ends, fading to spine, and a split/tearing along the rear outer hinge with exposure of the underlying material. No dust jacket. Of special interest, the front blank endpaper bears the ownership signature of Yvor Winters. This is described as an ownership signature / association copy, not as an author-signed copy. Interior pages show age toning, with a small pencil notation to the front endpaper and light general handling wear. A worn but still serviceable first edition with appealing association to the poet, critic, and Stanford professor Yvor Winters.
