Quarter-vellum over gray ribbed cloth, aluminum lettering on front cover & stamping on spine (slight bumping heads of spines), w/ gray paper & cloth open-backed slipcases, w/ rounded head & foot guards for spines (minor dustsoiling, edgewear, bumping to upper corner for vol. II case), still VG/VG- set, w/ presentation slip on laid paper laid-in. First edition of this lavishly illustrated set describing the first four decades of Alusuisse, one of the world's first aluminum producing industrial groups. They began production in 1889 in Neuhausen at the Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen, Switzerland. Of special interest are the illustrations and colour plates in this set featuring the artwork of Otto Baumberger (1889-1961) famed Swiss painter and poster artist, whose mastery of lithography techniques allowed him to create striking images.
