An eighteenth century edition of Hugh of Saint-Cher's important concordance of the Vulgate Bible, this being a revised and corrected edition by Francisco Luca and Hubert Phalesius. Half-title is present.Engraved title page.In Latin.An important work, the first Bible concordance directed by Hugh of Saint-Cher, which was a concordance of the Vulgate which he completed in 1230.This edition was edited and corrected by Francisco Luca and Hubert Phalesius.The Vulgate is an important Latin translation of the Bible from the late 4th Century. It has been the official Latin version of the Bible in the Catholic Church and still is today in the Latin Church.This first ever concordance contained short quotations of the passages where a word was found in the Bible, indicated by book and chapter. At first the passages did not invidivate the verses the words are to be found in, but this was introduced by Robert Estienne in 1545.Bookplate of D. P. Walker to the front paste down; Walker was a historian and author of studies on the occult in Western history.Ex-institutional copy from the Convent des Peres Franciscains in Monte-Carlo. In a full calf binding. Externally, worn. Loss of leather to the head and tail of the spine, and raised bands, heavier to the tail, and a little loss of leather to the extremities, particularly to the front board. Some marks and rubbing to the boards and spine. Cracks to the joints. Leather to the rear joint is lifting a little. Three aged leather repairs to the boards. Small chip to the front board. Hinges are starting but firm. Bookplate and ink mark to the front paste down, prior owner's ink inscription to the recto and verso to the front free endpaper. Small worm hole to the rear paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned in places and some spots. Ink inscription to the title page. Stamp to the half-title, title page and to a couple other pages of text. Small tide mark to the head of the page and margin of the first few pages. Good Only. book.

Schweinsleder d.Zt. (Patina; etwas berieben, unteres Kapital etwas bestossen/min. def.) a. 5 Bünden über Holzdeckeln mit (1 v. 2) Messingschliessen. Wohl Dritte (3.) Auflage dieses Titels, resp. Erste Auflage dieser Ausgabe mit Beteiligung des H. Phalesius. Vorderes Innengelenk etwas gelockert, Vorsatzspiegel mit Spur eines entfernten Exlibris, Seiten unterschiedlich gebräunt u.
