About the book >.>.> My three films - Ariana (2003), The Last Tour (2004), Travelling Amazonia (2006) - form a trilogy shot in Afghanistan, the Swiss Alps and Brazil, respectively. I shot the first film, Ariana, in 2002 and very soon realised it needed a second part. I wanted the second film to be less discursive since Ariana is the story of a failed project that prompts reflection about the 'panorama' as a form of strategic overview, as a cinematic camera movement and the origin of the panorama as a pre-cinematic form of mass entertainment. So in 2004 I made The Last Tour. While I was making it. I decided three points of view make for a better conversation. In 2005 I started gathering ideas for Travelling Amazonia and the trilogy was retrospectively completed in 2006. It wasn't planned as a trilogy from the beginning, but I am finished now and it is interesting to see how each film informs the others in interesting ways.
