Han var adjunkt i historia, tyska och svenska vid Norrköpings högre läroverk, men även lärare i botanik och zoologi samt i mineralogi och geologi vid Norrköpings Tekniska elementärskola. Han gjorde flera botaniska studieresor, bl.a. till Blekinge, men även till Norge, Tyskland och Österrike.
