Wraps. Condition: Good. Printed wraps. Folio. 158 pp. With a several page section of facsimiles near the front. A collection of musical scores by Matthew Locke, with lyrics, preceded by a short critical/historical introduction. Locke was an English baroque composer and music theorist, serving King Charles as Composer of the Wind Music (Wikipedia). As Grove's Dictionary of Music and Musicians notes 'he is important in musical history as the most eminent of the predecessors of Purcell in the composition of English stage music,' (Vol. V p 354). GOOD condition. Several scuffs, abrasions and small punctures to the surface of the wraps, with minor soiling and a few faint stains. The scuffs have resulted in minor superficial loss of the outer layer of the wraps in those locales. Minor creasing at the corners and along the spine. Some bumping to the corners.
