Revolutions-Armee- Cello-Schüler des Pariser Conservatoire bei Janson l`Aîné. In der Folge führte er ein äußerst unstetes Leben als Cellist (Solo und tutti), Musikschul-Direktor (u. a. in Metz) und als Opern-Kapellmeister. - Gering stockfleckig. - Die Stimme der Violine am oberen und unteren rechten Eck mit durchgehendem Wurmgang (der Notentext ist nicht betroffen); der Cello-Part bezeichnet mit Violoncello II, auf dem -gegenüber der Violinstimme etwas anders gestaltetem Titelblatt- die Bemerkung "2e Livre de Duos de Violoncelle". - Wie bei vielen Werken dieser Besetzung gab es also auch hier eine Variante für 2 Violoncelli.
