This was compiled in the Statistics Section by Muhammad Kaddoura Kotkot and Muhammad Elhayyari under the supervision of its head Saleh Al Sabih, introduced by Dr Ibrahim A. Natto, Director of the Center for Statistical Data and Educational Documentation. It describes the system of general education (elementary, intermediate, secondary), and the types and stages of education (general, teacher training, technical, for the handicapped, adult, higher, other). The tables and charts are grouped into summaries; pupils; teachers; administrators; development of education in schools and in schools under the Ministry of Education; and budget. The situation is presented for 1973/4, with some time series since the 1960s. These include many fascinating detailed breakdowns, by function, type, country of origin (grouped into Arab, non-Arab and Saudi), gender, institution, classes, etc, reflecting the development of education programmes in the Kingdom.
