Der aus Oberösterreich stammende Jesuit Ignaz Parhamer war ein engagierter Pädagoge und Seelsorger und leitete ab 1759 das Waisenhaus am Wiener Rennweg, wobei er die dort bestehenden militärischen Strukturen übernahm und weiter ausbaute, aber auch die handwerkliche und musikalische Ausbildung der Kinder förderte. Die vorliegende Schrift stellt in konzentrierter Form Organisation und Regeln des Instituts dar und rechtfertigt sich gegen aufgekommene Kritik an dessen militärischer Struktur; die strenge Zucht und das Exerzieren der Knaben trugen Parhamer allerdings den Spitznamen "Pater Kindergeneral" ein. Insgesamt entwickelte sich das Waisenhaus aber unter seiner Leitung zu einer allgemein anerkannten und für die damalige Zeit vorbildlichen Einrichtung und wurde zu einer Wiener Sehenswürdigkeit. Zur Weihe der dem Haus angeschlossenen Kirche dirigierte 1768 der damals zwölfjährige Mozart dort eine von ihm komponierte Messe. …
