Hard Back. Condition: Very Good. Brock, H. M. - Illustrations (illustrator). 214 Pages. This is the 1921 Edition of the January 1919 copyright. Green boards with light wear. There are some penciled notes on the front and back endpapers. A quick thumb-thru revealed a couple of pages with light penciled notes. One of the greatest needs in meeting the present (1921) conditions in French language instruction is texts for conversation. Courses have been and are being planned both in grade schools and in colleges and universities to give the student a more practical training, which may, at the same time, give him a more intelligent and sympathetic understanding of the life and the customs of our ally. This book is specially adapted to these needs, introducing, as it does, in simple and interesting dialogues in colloquial French, much information on the intimate life and manners of the French. The whole atmosphere is thoroughly French. With the graded questionnaire the text may readily be made the basis of French conversation in almost any class. The vocabulary omits the simplest words. Those with the same spelling and the same meaning in French and English are generally omitted.
