Hardback. Condition: New. Prevent costly construction disputes before they require formal resolution Construction disputes drain resources through expensive mediation, arbitration, adjudication, or litigation. Proactive Dispute Management for Construction and Related Industries provides a systematic approach to identifying conflict flashpoints before they escalate. Written by an award-winning construction management professor with over two decades of industry experience, this book delivers practical frameworks for preventing disputes rather than merely resolving them after damage occurs. The book details how to conduct dispute risk analysis to identify potential conflict points early in project development. Learn to implement the three core tools of Proactive Dispute Management: dispute prevention, dispute avoidance, and dispute dousing. Discover how appointing project PDM captains creates accountability structures that significantly reduce dispute potential while promoting cooperative relationships among contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and clients. Readers will also find: Step-by-step guidance for conducting dispute risk analysis that identifies potential conflict flashpoints and enables development of targeted prevention measuresPractical frameworks for implementing dispute prevention, avoidance, and dousing strategies that address problems before they require formal resolution processesDetailed protocols for establishing project PDM captain roles that create accountability and significantly reduce dispute potential across construction teamsCooperative approaches to dispute management that benefit all project parties including contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and clients working togetherActionable policies and measures that reduce reliance on costly alternative dispute resolution methods like mediation, arbitration, adjudication, and litigationWritten for professional construction project personnel worldwide, this book serves contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and clients seeking to reduce dispute-related costs and delays. By addressing conflicts proactively rather than reactively, teams can deliver projects on time, within budget, and to desired quality standards.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -There is largely a dearth of objective information on the key issues underlying the effectiveness of facilities space planning and management of office buildings. Little effort has been invested in systematic development of comprehensive coherent criteria, to advance superior knowledge and direct decisions in practice and policy. A discovery of this shortcoming among other gaps, motivated the first author to research further into some influential factors in facilities space planning and management of office buildings, with emphasis on open-plan settings. As the dominant trend in the changing layout of offices is towards a more open-plan space (Knight Frank Hooker, 1995), investigation of open-plan measures in the determination of facilities space management, was considered crucial. The findings of the research have been published in various international journals some of which have been assembled here. The contributions of this research to knowledge and practice have been recognized by the industry, through its winning of the 1998, 1999, and 2000 Excellence Awards for Facility Management Research, awarded by the Facility Management Association of Australia. 152 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -The knowledge base of design brief and process for office buildings appears relatively less developed than that for residential and other buildings of much smaller scales. The treatment of top management as the sole clients in office building design and space planning decisions is a misconception. This view has become obsolete with greater acceptance of broad-based industrial democracy. Despite this development, there is largely a dearth of objective information on the key issues underlying the effectiveness of facilities space management of commercial office buildings. Little effort has been invested in systematic development of comprehensive, coherent criteria to advance superior knowledge and direct decisions in policy and practice. A discovery of this shortcoming, among other gaps, motivated the author to research further into some influential factors in facilities space management of commercial office buildings, with the Sydney CBD as the primary study setting. As the dominant trend in the changing layout of offices is towards a more open-plan space, investigation of open-plan measures in the determination of facilities space management was considered imperative. 424 pp. Englisch.
