Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. First edition. Hardback (with binders ticket to the rfep for the Methodist Publishing House, Madras). Paper title label laid in to upper board. 25 × 18.5cm. This is the twelve issues for 1928 for Christ Church in Madras (now known as Chennai) in south-east India. It contains local notices for the church community as well as (part) part short stories by the likes of Theodora Wilson Wilson, tips for the home, religious news and meditations, and a smattering of adverts for the European readership such as The European Hair Dressing Saloon, or Spencer's of Madras for home furnishings, there's even a June Jumble Sale - can you imagine what would be there!!! There doesn't seem to be a great deal about life in Madras, other than church services and notices etc, it appears more to be a gentle reminder of English life. Condition: There is rubbing to the green cloth boards, and some tanning to the pages but otherwise a rare survival in good condition.
