First Edition
First Edition. First edition. Wortley (1892 - 1926) was a British WWI flying ace and Military Cross-recipient credited with six aerial victories. A fictionalized account of his own experiences which Wortley, an aviation journalist, wrote to encourage "air-minded" youth towards military service. Three-quarter red cloth with black paper boards and spine lettered in gilt; frontispiece tissue-protected portrait of Wortley by Lafayette Photography. Scattered foxing to page fore edge otherwise fine in near fine gilt-lettered black dust jacket with spine lettering faded but no chips or tears. Hard to find a nicer copy.
