Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. 1st edition. xiv, 15-188, plus publisher's advertisements at rear. I blue cloth-covered boards with black titles and decorations. 8vo. Very gently rounded at spine ends. A little toning on endpapers, and some faint and occasional spotting, else internally… neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original worn, chapped at edges, dust jacket, rubbed over spine folds with minor loss mid spine and spine head. Some 230 years have passed since the great days of Hambledon cricket and most historians of the game have dealt with the activities of club, but here for the first time are reproduced two manuscripts, described in the foreword as being 'of the first importance': a minute book and a statement of accounts. Considering the status the of the club as the fore runner of the MCC, the information supplied cannot fail to appeal to all interested in the history of the game of cricket.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Green hardback book, with gilt titles on the spine, comes with translucent dust jacket, which have green flap sides to hold the dust jacket in position, price clipped. The book is in really good condition, normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent with use and age.… Folio Society first edition of 1955, printed by letterpress, reprinted by photo-litho in 1973. 127 pages all intact, nice tight binding. All pages, text and illustrations are in really good, clean, readable order. Printed in Great Britain by The Pitman Press, Bath. Set in Poliphilus Type and bound by J.M. Dent & Sons Ltd, Letchworth. The golden island of Tahiti seemed a paradise to the sea-weary crew of H.M.S Dolphin when, in 1767, they first set foot on its shores. This account of their experiences was written by the Master, to whose vivid and unspoken narrative have been added some piquant details from the Journals of other members of his ship's company. It paints an extremely entertaining picture of what happened when a party of English sailors stumbled into a Garden of Eden. Robert Gibbings, the illustrator, knew Tahiti well, and loved it: his engravings , exquisite in detail, convey all the timeless fascination of the island better than any camera. A brilliant read and definitively a book to be preserved for future generations.

Paperback. Condition: Good. First Edition. pp. 80. "Although paintings by members of the Group of Seven have been included in all major exhibitions of Canadian painting, there has been only one important exhibition devoted exclusively to their work since 1933, when the Group of Seven was merged into the larger Canadian Group of…Painters: this was held at the National Gallery of Canada in 1936. The present exhibition, then, may be regarded as the second such survey. It differs from the first by the addition of works by Franz Johnston, who was a member of the Group for a short time, and Tom Thomson, who was never a member, but who has been included in this exhibition on grounds of style and association. This is certainly the first time that any major collection of the work of the Group of Seven has been seen in Vancouver." - Introduction.
