Contact seller4-star sellerSoftcover. Condition: g- to vg. First edition. Oblong 12mo (6 1/2 x 9 1/2"). 44pp. Original illustrated wrappers. Written by the cartoonist Boris Yefimov, and graphic artist and art critic Mark Lvovich Ioffe, this work is the first Hungarian edition of the history of Kukryniksy, a group of three anti-fascist graphic artists, ill…ustrators of the satirical magazine "Krokodil," and the most important propaganda cartoonists of the USSR. The name Kukryniksy is an acronym formed from the names of the three artists and friends: Mikhail Kupriyanov, Porfiri Krylov, Nikolai Sokolov. The cartoons featured in this book cover the period starting with Nazi Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union (1941) to the present (1952). While the wartime cartoons are all anti-Nazi, the post-WWII ones reflect the "Cold War" between Russia and the Western democracies with its anti-Tito, anti-American, and anti-Capitalists illustrations. Some age-toning and creasing along edges of wrappers. Lower front corner bumped, thus slightly affecting pages throughout. Text in Hungarian. Wrappers in overall good- to good, interior in good+ to very good condition.
