A flawed but still very presentable copy, signed by the famous Vaudeville stage magician, published the year he became Dean of the Society of American Magicians. Irving Desfor (1907-1993) began taking photographs of his magician friends in 1936 and this book is the culmination of almost 50 years of his efforts. Each is accompanied by a description of the photo and the result is a Who?s Who of magic performers (mostly American) of the mid-20th century. Slight smear in author's signature. Bound in a different cloth than trade ed and stamped "DELUXE EDITION" on front board. Fine condition with vg dust jacket with a number of short edgetears and edge creases and some light scuffing and a vertical crease on rear flap. Includes three pages of color photos, the balance being in b&w and accompanied by comments on each of the performers and/or the photograph. Most of the pictures are full page reproductions.
