Now I would like to take a few moments of your time. The Apollo 15 lunar mission in which I participated was a challenge for which I spent many years in preparation. I am grateful for that opportunityto serve my country and my fellow men. But now I am involved in an even greater mission, reaching out to God and man through High Flight Foundation. Enclosed is our newsletter which describes many of our projects. One which is especially dear to my heart is "Project Uplift," a program which permits me and other former astronauts to speak in school assemblies with the youth of America. Today, more than ever, our young people need positive input, and Project Uplift gives us an opportunity each year to share with thousands of young people as they prepare and develop body, mind and spirit. If you would like to assist in this endeavor, I have enclosed a self-addressed return envelope. Cordially yours, (signed) James B. Irwin President". Most unforgetable memory of Apollo 15 was the liftoff because we knew we were on our way! It was a very hard landing on the moon.
