Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Oblong quarto measuring 12 "x 7.5". String tied, gray leather boards with gilt and embossed decorations. Contains 149 black and white or sepia toned photographs measuring between 2.5" x 2" and 6" x 4.5" with captions. Bumped spine ends with worn string else fine with fine photographs. A family photo album from 1926 through 1936 of a couple living in Sussex, New Jersey and traveling to various landmarks in the North East. Much of the album is of a young couple, Isabel and Emil, with their friends and relatives camping, visiting the beach, and traveling in their Studebaker. The album starts with the couple's trip to Mount Vernon in Virginia to visit the home of George Washington. They then visit Washington D.C. to see the "United States Capital Dome," as well as the treasury, war and navy department, union railroad station, and monuments to soldiers who died during war times. There are several pictures of their trips to Bushkill Falls in Pennsylvania, Long Island, and Maine. The couple lives in Sussex and is pictured with their friends working on a farm and a couple photos of Isabel riding the horses. There are also photographs of the young couple traveling to see their extended family in Spring Field and Sayville, Illinois. The photos are captioned, "Many Happy Days Spent at Sayville," with pictures of picnics, swimming days on the lake, and some shots of Isabel and Emil together at a park. Later in the photo album is the couple's trip to Damariscotta and Walpole, Maine to visit the light houses and rocky coasts. There are also charming photos of Isabel and Emil at a friendly get together on Lake Mahopac, New York with some friends. The photos are well shot and several have Isabel posed wearing a nice dress. Lastly, there are some photographs from a family wedding, a trip to Mohawk Trail in Massachusetts, and pictures of Isabel wearing two outfits, one captioned "Happy Days, 1930," and the other captioned "Unhappy Days, 1933 depression". A charming and well shot photo album from a couple's decade of traveling together in the 1920s through 1930s.
