Primera edición de esta gran crónica de Hungria, la primera y origen de todos los estudios historiográficos hungareses. Nikola Istvánffy ( Kisaszonyfalva cerca de Pécs , 8 de diciembre de 1538 - Vinica , 1 de abril de 1615 ) (en fuentes húngaras: Miklos Istvánffy , en fuentes latinas: Nicolaus , Nicolai Isthvanfi, Nicolas Istuan…fius ) fue un historiador, político, asesor diplomático y obispo croata. Escribió la monumental reseña histórica Historiarum de rebus Ungaricis libri XXXIV ab anno 1490. ad annum 1605 . La obra fue publicada en 1622 en Colonia. en el que abordó los acontecimientos más importantes de la historia europea de su época en orden cronológico, desde la muerte de Matías Corvino hasta Matías II. Habsburgo, centrando su atención en los acontecimientos políticos y militares en Hungría. Consejero, humanista, poeta. Pertenecía a la élite política y cultural húngara. Autores posteriores adoptaron muchas de las descripciones de Istvánffy. Influyó especialmente en autores como Juraj Rattkay , Pavao Ritter Vitezovi? y Balthazar Adam Kr?eli? . Por esta razón, casi todos los historiadores croatas lo incluyen regularmente en sus resúmenes de la ciencia histórica. Destacan su contribución como fuente valiosa para la historia croata en el período comprendido entre el siglo XVI y el XVIII. A pesar de esto, la ciencia histórica croata ha escrito poco sobre la historia croata, que se incluye en la obra de Istvánffy. Es importante para la historia croata que en sus textos se llame iliricos o croatas a la población del Reino de Eslavonia, Croacia y Dalmacia, pero también dálmatas. 4 hojas inclusive portada grabada con retratos y escudos de armas, en la parte superior el de Fernando II, rey de Hungria; 852 páginas, 17 hojas.
