Ján Botto, 1876 in Lukovitia, Österreich-Ungarn, heute Slowakei, - 1958 Bratislava, Tschechoslowakei) war ein slowakischer Dichter und Schriftsteller. Er studierte am Prager Polytechnikum Chemieingenieurwesen und erhielt 1905 den Titel eines Ingenieurs. Dort begann er auch unter dem Einfluss der französischen Symbolisten und tschechoslowakischer Bewegung namens Hlasisti erste Werke zu verfassen. - Duan Kállay, geboren 1948 in der Slowakei, ist ein slowakischer Maler, Grafiker und Illustrator. Er erhielt1983 den Grand Prix auf der internationalen Biennale der Illustration Bratislava für seine Illustration von Lewis Carrolls Alice im Wunderland, 1988 erhielt er den Hans-Christian-Andersen-Preis für sein Lebenswerk in der Illustration. - Kl.
