Text in Ukrainian. Cover design by Volodymyr Lasovsky. Separate illustrations by Ivan Ivanets. Overall, the copy is in very good condition, though the wrappers show slight tearing along the spine. A historical almanac rich with captivating illustrations and engaging articles. Ivan Ivanets (1893?1946) was a notable Ukrainian painter and graphic artist, born in Novosilky Hostynni, Rudky county, Galicia. During the Ukrainian struggle for independence (1917?20), he played a significant role, initially heading the Press Office of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen, followed by serving as an attaché on gas warfare with their staff. After graduating from the Ukrainian Studio of Plastic Arts in Prague in 1927, Ivanets worked predominantly as an illustrator, primarily for the Chervona Kalyna publishing house in Lviv. Between 1942 and 1944, he was the president of the Labor Association of Ukrainian Pictorial Artists in Lviv. His arrest by the Soviets in Cracow in 1945 led to his deportation to Solikamsk in the RSFSR, where he died in 1946. Ivanets was renowned for his paintings of battle scenes and landscapes, and he also authored numerous articles on both world and Ukrainian art. Volodymyr Lasovsky (1907?1975) was a distinguished Ukrainian artist, encompassing roles as a painter, graphic artist, theatre designer, and art historian. Educated at the Studio-School of O. Novakivsky in Lviv and L?Académie de l?Art Moderne in Paris, he was actively involved in various art movements and groups, including UTPM and ANUM. After emigrating from Ukraine, he lived in Austria, Paris, and Argentina, contributing significantly to theatre and puppetry. In 1959, Lasovsky moved to the United States, where he continued his artistic and cultural work, including interior design for churches and participation in Ukrainian art organizations. His works were internationally recognized and exhibited in Europe, Canada, and the U.S.
