Includes sketches and plans dreawn by Kenneth Brown and numerous black and white photographs by Ivy De Wolfe. A clean near fine copy with the ownership signature of author Franz Schulze to the front free endpaper and in a near fine dust jacket with some very minor wear and a crease to the rear flap. A very pleasing copy as Schulze was an accomplished scholar on architecture who wrote numerous books on Mies Van Der Rohe.

Bound in white covers with black stamping in a very nice dust jacket. The binding is solid. The contents are bright and clean, filled throughout with black & white illustrations. De Wolfe (a nom de plume for the AR's proprietor/editor, Hubert de Cronin Hastings) produced a larger book of the same title for AP the following year.

The Italian Townscape was written by Hubert de Cronin Hastings (1902-1986), under his pseudonym of Ivor de Wolfe, with photographs taken by him and his wife Hazel (alias Ivy de Wolfe). He claimed to have invented the word Townscape, and used his position as proprietor/editor of the Architectural Review to promote it as a technique to inspire the creation of historically layered, visually stimulating, dense cities in the period of reconstruction and new towns.
