Confederate receipt dated Aug. 25th, 1862 for the purchase of 254 bales of cotton from a plantation in Duck Hill, Carroll (now Montgomery) County, Mississippi sold to the Confederate States of America. The cotton was valued at $15083.52. Signed by J.A. Sample (Sp?) and B. Sharpe Lee (Sp?). Includes a meticulously written tally sheet for 254 bales bought by D. Evans of Duck Hill for Y.N. Estis.
