Hardcover. Condition: Good. Burgundy cloth covers with gold lettering on spine and front cover which is bright. Black blind stamped design and lettering on front cover is still attractive. Covers exhibit wear and fraying on corners, spine ends and back cover hinge. Light wear and soiling to edges and front hinge. Moderate soiling and shelf wear to covers. Marbled page ends are lightly faded due to age. Previous owners name on inside front cover and writing in pencil to bfep's and inside back cover. Light yellowing to text with very occasional foxing. Text is otherwise clean and unmarked. Hinges are weak but still firmly attached. Illustrated with many b&w drawings, diagrams and charts. Steeles Series in the Natural Sciences. "Contains those definitions, illustrations and applications which seemed at the time to interest and instruct the author's pupils." Books are not ex lib unless stated. This books starts with the Preface page. What makes this book still valuable are the many b/w etchings throughout the book. Many antique print dealers will 'harvest' and frame these. Published by A. S. Barnes & Company in 1887. Other than the missing pages, this book is pristine. But I have downgraded the condition rating due t othe missing pages. (BR) Box 304.
