Black and white illustrations and photographic plates throughout. Pages and plates are lightly tanned throughout. Binding remains firm. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Slight crushing to spine ends.

Book is badly bent (front cover and pages are curved); free front endpaper has stamp indicating that this copy was not accessioned by an academic library, likely because it was a duplicate; stamp of American School of Prehistoric Research at top of half title; ownership stamp of George Grant MacCurdy at top of title page; pages at front and back have heavy foxing, mostly in margins; outer page edges have light foxing; a few pages have very minor wear; several margins have pencil corrections (as they might have been done by MacCurdy, they have not been erased); binding has light soil; spine cloth has minor wrinkling; tight, body of text clean; a hurt book due to its being bent. 152 p. + plates. [b 302a].

Illustrated, octavo, pp 152, the edges are foxed, and also the half-title, title page and frontispiece; occasional fozing internally but then heavier on the index pages. Otherwise clean internally, brown cloth in very good condition. The dustwrapper is price-clipped, it is slightly worn and marked, a slight tear to the rear cover and a small piece missing from the spine head. A scarce book.
