Inlaid with a business card from a copy center in Wasilla, Alaska, a news clipping about an encounter by Arctic explorer David Hempleman-Adams with a 750-pound polar bear, a paper titled "Please Post" announcing The Journal of Polar History and a letter signed by Jackson on Journal of Polar History letterhead and dated 19 July 1983 to Leslie Melvin asking if he had any unpublished materials pertaining to polar exploration, citing Melvin's solo trip across the top of Alaska during the winter of 1931-32. An ambitious undertaking. 8vo, 364pp, illustrations. Very small tear bottom of spine; internally very clean and bright.
