VD17 23:231301Z; Äußerst seltene und bedeutsame Schrift Widukind (auch Wittekind oder Weking), der aus einem westfälisc…hen Adelsgeschlecht und als dux Saxonum, also als Herzog der Sachsen, in den Jahren 777 bis 785 den Widerstand gegen Karl den Großen in den Sachsenkriegen führte. Die Sachsen unterlagen letztlich den militärisch überlegenen Franken. So wurde der heutige Nordwesten Deutschlands dem Karolingerreich einverleibt und schließlich auch christianisiert. Widukind wurde 777 anlässlich des Reichstags von Paderborn erstmals erwähnt. Nach seiner Taufe in der Königspfalz Attigny (785) fehlen gesicherte Informationen über sein weiteres Schicksal, während seine Gestalt ins Mythische wuchs und teilweise kultisch verehrt wurde. Der Autor Jakob Andreas Crusius war Rechtsgelehrter, Sohn des Juristen Christoph C. (Crause), geb. 9. Nov. 1636 in Hannover, ebenda 16. August 1680. Er studierte in Wittenberg, Leipzig, Helmstädt Jurisprudenz und Theologie, machte Reisen durch Deutschland, Holland, Frankreich und erwarb 1662 in Helmstädt den juristischen Doctorgrad. 1663 wurde er Syndicus in Minden, 1676 Advocat in seiner Vaterstadt, 1678 Hof- und Regierungsrath. Von seinen Schriften (siehe Jöcher) erwähnen wir die Opuscula varia politico-iuridico-historica, 1668. Auch gab er das Jus statutarium reipublicae Mindensis, 1674, und seines Vaters Monographie De tortura, 1682, 1704 mit Anmerkungen heraus. Die beiden großen beeindruckenden Kupfer Zeigen das Grab von Widuking in der Stiftkirche zu Enger. Die ersten Blätter etwas unfrisch und mit kleinem Wurmgang, ansonsten gut erhalten. Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 1500 Folio. Pappband mit Buntpapierbezug (Rücken mit Fehlstellen).
