This work by James Audain (1903-1970) tells the story of the coal owning family of Pacific Coast Dunsmuirs and, in particular, Alex Dunsmuir's troubled life in San Francisco. An account of the secrets of the famous Dunsmuir House, a considerable lawsuit, and an unpopular marriage. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in excellent condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean, with just a little spotting to the plates. Dust wrapper is somewhat sunned with a little chipping to the head and tail of the spine. A couple of small closed tears to the front of the wrap. Spotted to the verso of the dust wrapper.
