    Paper. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. An Original Signed Address headed letter by James Backhouse. Dated 1853. An excellent letter from James Bakehouse to his son from Staveneger Norway. The letter is very detailed and discusses his travels, botany and teachings within the Norwegian Fjords. James Backhouse 1794 - 1869 was a botanist and missionary for the Quaker church in Australia. He visited Norway in 1851, 1853 and 1860, holding more than 200 meetings in 1853 and 1860. His son, also James Backhouse (1825-1890), was also a botanist.Written on four sides. Size 215mm x 135mm Condition is very good. Feint centre fold creases. More images can be taken upon request. Ref16606. Signed by Author(s).
