Head and tail pieces throughout. . Damage to the paper in the margin of pages 87-111 in the first book just slightly affecting marginal text. Bookplate of Smith-Sligo (Seligo Veritatem) and inscript on title page Gilb. Lang. , along with verso inscript of John Lenfant 1800 Daglish. Contemporary full leather binding, five raised bands with faint labels with title and another with volume #. Leather is scuffed and worn at the extremities, starting to peel off the board at joints, spine tips worn with leather starting to peel. Interior has ownership marks, some minor foxing, damage as note in the margin, otherwise clean and unmarked. Surprisingly hard to find in commerce. A history of the late medieval council that addressed the schism in the Church over the (at that point) three different popes. The council is important for its relationship to ecclesial conciliarism and Papal supremacy. Lenfant was a Calvinist. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 1239 pages.
