Hardcovers, bound in blue cloth with leather spine labels. Likely missing plates, the title page claiming 20 copper plates; the text bright and unmarked.

Leather. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. New Edition. xvi, lxii, 636 and 603, [lxi] pp. Illustrated with several Curious Copper Plates. Frontis plate, title page illustration with man with bee skep, illustration of the Council at top of Book I and Book V . Short tear at bottom margin of the frontis plate, red and black title page. Head and tail pieces throughout. . Damage to the paper in the margin of pages 87-111 in the first book just slightly affecting marginal text. Bookplate of Smith-Sligo (Seligo Veritatem) and inscript on title page Gilb. Lang. , along with verso inscript of John Lenfant 1800 Daglish. Contemporary full leather binding, five raised bands with faint labels with title and another with volume #. Leather is scuffed and worn at the extremities, starting to peel off the board at joints, spine tips worn with leather starting to peel. Interior has ownership marks, some minor foxing, damage as note in the margin, otherwise clean and unmarked. Surprisingly hard to find in commerce. A history of the late medieval council that addressed the schism in the Church over the (at that point) three different popes. The council is important for its relationship to ecclesial conciliarism and Papal supremacy. Lenfant was a Calvinist. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 1239 pages.
