Add to basketPaper. Condition: Good. First Edition. Two Pages from an Autograph Album with Eight Original Signed Signatures by some of the greatest Writers of the 20th Century. Six of which won the Novel Prize for Literature Including Derek Walcott, Seamus Heaney, Wole Soyinka, Nadine Gordimer, Toni Morrison, Kenzaburō Ōe, P D James, Tom Sto…ppard and Antony Hecht. To have all the signatures together is very rare. All signed in the 1990's. Anthony Evan Hecht 1923 - 2004 was an American poet. His work combined a deep interest in form with a passionate desire to confront the horrors of 20th century history, with the Second World War, in which he fought, and the Holocaust being recurrent themes in his work. Sir Derek Alton Walcott 1930 - 2017 was a Saint Lucian poet and playwright. He received the 1992 Nobel Prize in Literature. Seamus Heaney 1939 - 2013 was an Irish poet, playwright and translator. He received the 1995 Nobel Prize in Literature. Wole Soyinka b 1934 is a Nigerian author, best known as a playwright and poet. He has written three novels, ten collections of short stories, seven poetry collections, twenty-five plays and five memoirs. He also wrote two translated works and many articles and short stories for many newspapers and periodicals. He is widely regarded as one of Africa's greatest writers and one of the world's most important dramatists. He was awarded the 1986 Nobel Prize in Literature for his "wide cultural perspective and poetic overtones fashioning the drama of existence". Nadine Gordimer 1923 - 2014 was a South African writer and political activist. She received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1991, recognised as a writer "who through her magnificent epic writing has . been of very great benefit to humanity" Phyllis Dorothy James 1920 - 2014, known professionally as P. D. James, was an English novelist and life peer. Her rise to fame came with her series of detective novels featuring the police commander and poet, Adam Dalgliesh. Toni Morrison 1931 - 2019, known as Toni Morrison, was an American novelist and editor. Her first novel, The Bluest Eye, was published in 1970. The critically acclaimed Song of Solomon (1977) brought her national attention and won the National Book Critics Circle Award. In 1988, Morrison won the Pulitzer Prize for Beloved (1987); she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1993. Kenzaburō Ōe January 1935 - 2023 was a Japanese writer and a major figure in contemporary Japanese literature. His novels, short stories and essays, strongly influenced by French and American literature and literary theory, deal with political, social and philosophical issues, including nuclear weapons, nuclear power, social non-conformism, and existentialism. Ōe was awarded the 1994 Nobel Prize in Literature for creating "an imagined world, where life and myth condense to form a disconcerting picture of the human predicament today". Sir Tom Stoppard b1937 is a Czech-born British playwright and screenwriter. He has written for film, radio, stage, and television, finding prominence with plays. His work covers the themes of human rights, censorship, and political freedom, often delving into the deeper philosophical bases of society.
