" I write these few lines to assure you how sorry I was that you were not successful at the election, and to thank you most cordially for the courageous way in which you fought in circumstances of very great difficulty . I appreciate your efforts very much and it causes me great regret that I shall not have your support in the House " . Includes 1/ A postcard handwritten by Ramsay Macdonald written from Lossiemouth ,signed with his initials and dated 1937. 2/ The original mailing envelope from 10 Downing St. for the above typed letter. 4/ An original luncheon ticket for the " National Labour Committee " , November 6th 1933. 5/ A pamphlet " An Appeal To The Nation " The Rt Hon, J. Ramsay Macdonald , Prime Minister . James Ramsay MacDonald 1866-1937 was a British politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, the first who belonged to the Labour Party, leading minority Labour governments for nine months in 1924 and again between 1929 and 1931. From 1931 to 1935, he headed a National Government dominated by the Conservative Party and supported by only a few Labour members. MacDonald was expelled from the Labour Party as a result. MacDonald, along with Keir Hardie and Arthur Henderson, was one of the three principal founders of the Labour Party in 1900. Vatious sizes Condition is good. Light edge rubbing/age toning.
