First edition of each volume, 8vo, pp. xiii, [1], 209, [1]; [8], 257, [1]; viii, [2], 187, [1]; illustrated throughout, both fine in original red, green, and blue cloth respectively, without dust-jackets, as issued. Volume I reprints the best of Eckman's periodical contributions, on America's Composing Machines: Their Inventors and Promoters; Some Famous Printing Presses and How They Developed; Noted Printing Personalities and the Parts They Played; and, Glimpses of Printing History. Lawson gives a year's worth of famous days in the history of printing. Boutin relates fond memories of working with linotype machines.
