Lacks dust jacket other than remnant of rear flap now lad-in at rear endpapers. Blue cloth with bright gilt stamping to spine and front board; some mottling to rear board. Foxing and light toning to front endpapers; past owner's pencil inscription at top of front free endpaper; some early leaves shallowly bumped/dinged at bottom margins; toned impression from rear pocket's red ribbon on rear endpapers. Interior pages remains quite clean with only a few scattered spots of minor foxing and soiling. Archival glue repair to binding stress between pages vi-vii but otherwise firm. With frontispiece, Introduction by University of Illinois President Edmund J. James, b/w plates, illustrations, Glossary, Index, and large foldout two-sided sheet (map on recto and tables on verso) inserted within rear pastedown pocket - Library of Congress catalog calls for two sheets to be present in pocket so evidently one sheet is missing. Author Harrison S. Kerrick was a Captain (later rising to Colonel) in the Coast Artillery Corps, U.S. Army, and was also Division Superintendent of Schools, Philippine Islands, 1901.
