Tussen 1269 en 1322 kenden de Vlaamse munthuizen van Ieper, Brugge, Gent, Aalst, Dendermonde, Ninove en Damme een grote bloei. Die viel samen met het bewind van de graven Margaretha van Constantinopel, Gwijde van Dampierre en Robrecht van Bethune. In deze publicatie worden alle grote zilveren munten die in deze periode in de Vlaamse munthuizen werden geslagen besproken en bestudeerd. Uniek aan dit overzichtswerk is dat alle munten in vrijwel alle varianten zijn afgebeeld. De Vlaamse muntslag wordt in een breed historisch kader geplaatst waardoor de publicatie zich richt tot iedereen die geboeid is door de geschiedenis van Vlaanderen in de late dertiende en de vroege veertiende eeuw. Jean-Claude Martiny is secretaris van het Europees Genootschap voor Munt- en Penningkunde. Eerder publiceerde hij bij Uitgeverij Snoeck het driedelige standaardwerk Het Munthuis in Gent. 0 g.
