This is the rare first edition from 1953 of a book that was later published by Alexander Moring in 1956 - this second edition is often mistakenly given as the first edition. The cover illustration features a woman by Reginald Heade but the city background was done by Ron Turner. The front cover has a two inch piece snipped from the top corner, another three inch piece piece snipped from the bottom corner and a vertical crease down the centre. The rear cover features the Heade illustration for the unpublished first edition of Women Trap and this has a quarter inch piece trimmed from the left edge and rusty marks around the staples. The spine has some surface wrinkling and a little edge rubbing. Browning to the page edges. The first page has been partially glued to the inside of the cover and has a two inch piece snipped from the top corner. It also has a book shop stamp and extensive traces of some sums that were written in pencil. Price in pen to the top corner of the title page and another to the top corner of the first page of the text. The final page also has been partially glued to the inside of the rear cover and has some yellow spotting. The pages are a little browned but are otherwise clean and unmarked. First printing.
