Softcover. Condition: Fine. Theatre program. Square octavo. Stapled wrappers with membership application for the Atlanta Summit Leadership Congress stapled over the program. Fine. A program for the musical satire *Red White and Maddox*, which explored what would happen if Georgia Governor Lester Maddox, an avowed segregationist, was elected president. The show was plucked from regional obscurity by *Bye-Bye Birdy* producer Edward Padula who fast-tracked it to Broadway in an effort to duplicate his success the Lyndon Johnson satire *MacBird*. Unfortunately the show did not resonated with New York audiences and was canceled after only 41 performance. While the show failed, one actor who appeared in both runs went on to much acclaim: Christopher Llyod, who first gained national attention on TV's *Taxi* and international fame as Doc Brown in the *Back to the Future* films. While copies of the Broadway program are available, this regional program is rare with *OCLC* locating no other copies.
