Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Hambidge's theory of "Dynamic Symmetry" is based on the idea that nature and classical Greek art use geometric proportions rather than simple measurements. The Root Rectangles: He demonstrates how to construct "root rectangles" (Root 2, Root 3, Root 5, etc.) and the Golden Rectangle using a compass and straightedge. The Whirl-about Rectangle: A key focus is the logarithmic spiral and how it relates to the growth patterns of plants (phyllotaxis) and human anatomy. The book was intended to provide artists, architects, and designers with a mathematical framework for creating compositions that feel "alive" or balanced, similar to those found in the Parthenon. Illustrated. Normal age/use wear. A nice copy overall. Book.
