The book was published by Jay Ottinger in 1994 and does appear to be a First Edition though it is not specifically stated as such. The dust jacket…flap where the original price would be has been clipped. It is 9 1/4" by 8 1/4" and has 117 glossy pages with a Table of Contents - some older black-and-white photographs - and a Nautical Nomenclature section at the end of the book. It is NOT an ex-library book and both the book and the dust jacket are in very good + condition. "As Jay had told hos own stories, people have repeatedly told him that he should write a book. Here - at last - is a book that shares the facts and details of his many voyages, the ships and experiences, and his good humor." The book has been neatly straight-signed by Ottinger on the front loose end page. Thank you. Signed by Author(s).

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. The Steam Yacht Delphine and Other Stories; Jay Ottinger; self-published, Sailors' Snug Harbor S. C., 1994. Signed by the author. From the blurb Sailors have always told stories of their adventures and travels, and retired mariner Jay Ottinger has more than seventy ye…ars on the water to recall. Here are some of his best stories, written with style, brimming with detail. In his introduction, Joe Gribbins likens Ottinger's writing to that of Damon Runyon, Ring Lardner, and H. L. Mencken It's a breezy, all-American style that delivers the goods and puts a smile on your face. People don't seem to know how to write like that anymore. Jay Ottinger tells us just what it was like working aboard the magnificent, 257-foot yacht Delphine, owned by the Dodge family, and run with a crew of fifty-four. Then he takes us aboard a smaller yacht, the Purdy designed and built Spray III, a seventy-seven-footer launched in 1921. And more. This book, 115 pages is in fine condition in a near-fine dust jacket that is now in a protective mylar wrap. Signed by Author(s).
