It begins with an almost successful lynching and continues with J.W. becoming involved in the work of the Methodist Episcopal Church among American Negroes. Illustrated with photographs showing African-Americans at work and in educational settings, mostly in the South. A title in the Black Heritage Library Collection. 179 pp. Ex-library with the usual markings, but overall tight and clean in black cloth, no dust jacket as issued.
